
This one is a banger—hit in our home—nutritious, hearty and yum. Here goes:
Ingredients:
-3 cups whole masoor dal
-1 ½ tbsp oil
-2 onions
-3 tomatoes
-3 inches ginger
-6 cloves of garlic
-½ tsp cumin powder
-½ tsp Fenugreek seeds (optional)
-½ tsp turmeric powder
-½ tsp red chilly powder
-1 tsp garam masala (optional)
-salt to taste
How to make it:
-Soak masoor daal for 5-8 hours
-Heat a pan, add in oil
-Add in mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds
-Add in onions, ginger, garlic, cumin powder, turmeric and red chilly
-Saute till it all come together (add in the salt—it helps here)
-Add in the tomatoes
-Optionally blitz it all together with a blender
-add in the soaked and drained masoor daal
-Let it cook
-Enjoy with hot white rice or chapaati
